HERE'S ROMEO!

HE'S SO CUTE, LEO. LOOK.

SURE, HE'S LIVING THE LIFE OF RILEY.

BUT HE HELPS OUT WITH OFFICE WORK

HE'S IN TRAINING TO BE A BOXER, TOO!

BUT HE EXPECTS TO BE CARRIED AROUND LIKE A PRINCE.

HE'S A VERY AMUSING DOG, LEO, NO KIDDING. HE'LL COME MEET YOU IN MAY. ME TOO.

Some people live in Cave Houses!

LOOK LEO, ISNT THIS GREAT? THESE ARE HOUSES THAT PEOPLE DUG OUT OF THE HILL WITH THEIR SHOVELS! THEY LIVE IN THOSE CAVES! I THINK THAT WOULD BE FUN.

HI LEO!

HERE IS ONE GUY HUGGING ANOTHER GUY. WHAT KIND OF ANIMALS ARE THEY?fippolola2006-11-15T14:31:10.698-08:00HERE'S A POEM FOR YOU, LEODADDY OR MOMMY CAN READ IT TO YOU. IT'S IN A BIG BOOK I GOT YESTERDAY:

(First, a note to your fatheh:

Mafs, I think this poem is one of the good ones in this really good (huge!) book I got yesterday. Leo can understand little parts of it if you show them to him, but that's not important. (You can show him the stars in the water when you go to the sea and the sun sparkles in it) What's important is that you read it to him over and over and he hears the rhythm and gets to know it. I'll send you an email with the introduction to this book that convinced me you're right to want to read poetry to Leo. I wish I'd done it for you and Danny when you were little. But no one did it for me, so I didn't know how good it was until now.)

(Maybe I should illustrate it with little drawings?)

LEISURE
William H. Davies

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows,

No time to see, when woods we pass
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass,

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance,

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.fippolola2006-11-15T13:24:47.961-08:00I'LL TRY TO MAKE THEM BIGGERUM, LET'S SEE NOW.....

HELP ME NAME THIS DOG

HI LEO
THIS IS THE NEW DOGGY BECAUSE BUDDY WENT TO LIVE ON A BIG QUIET FARM IN THE CATSKILLS. THIS DOG HAS NO REAL NAME. THE PEOPLE WHO RESCUED HIM CALLED HIM ROMEO.

HE'S SO CURIOUS, I WAS GOING TO CALL HIM CURIOUS GEORGE, BUT I DON'T LIKE THE NAME GEORGE ANYMORE.

HIS LEGS ARE SO LONG I WAS GOING TO CALL HIM 'FRED' FOR FRED ASTAIRE. NAH.

HE PRANCES LIKE A SHOW HORSE BUT 'PRANCER' IS A STUPID NAME. "HERE PRANCER, HERE PRANCER." CAN'T DO THAT.

I EXPECTED JIMMY CAGNEY BUT I GOT JIMMY STEWART SO I WAS GOING TO CALL HIM JIMMY. I DON'T KNOW.

HE DOESN'T MAKE ANY NOISE, NO BARKING OR CRYING, SO I WAS GOING TO CALL HIM HARPO, BUT THAT REMINDS ME OF OPRAH SO I DON'T WANT TO CALL HIM THAT EITHER.

HE MOVES SO FAST I WAS GOING TO CALL HIM 'LIGHTNING' OR 'LIZARD'
HE'S GENTLE AND SHY AND CUDDLY SO I WAS GOING TO CALL HIM 'FAIGELEH' BUT YOUR UNCLE MIGHT TAKE OFFENSE. ANYWAY, I DON'T THINK FAIGELEH'S ARE ALWAYS SO NICE AND GENTLE.

I COULD CALL HIM ZACK OR JACK, OR JAKE. I LIKE BEN, BUT THAT'S A RAT.

WHAT DO YOU AND YOUR DAD THINK?
